New Findings From The Replay

Seth Rogen is in Donnie Darko.

Most notable quote from the movie, ” I like your boobs.”  Great job Seth!  Seth was also once on Dawson’s Creek.  He has come a long way to creating my favorite movie in 2008, Pineapple Express.  Has Pineapple Express made it to the cheap theaters yet?  Time for Round 4 maybe?

The Season Has Finally Started

It has not been until recently that I have felt like I am playing ultimate this year.  There were a lot of life changes that happened prior to and during the early season for me this year.  None of this means that I haven’t been having a great time this year, but I have played far less ultimate than last club season.

Minneapolis has been far different than Iowa.  There are more good to really good players up here.  The talent is also distributed across many different teams.  More good players are content to play on a ‘for-fun’ teams as well.  More teams also means more cliques, and this seems to lead to less quality pickup.  Most of the major teams in town have practice and conditioning every week, so it is difficult for those of us that don’t get the opportunity to practice.  When I was in Iowa, I played twice if not thrice, every week.

The upside here, is that I have been able to focus a lot of time to my career, and that has paid some pretty big dividends.

Regionals in a couple weekends, and then with luck, Nationals.  See you there?

Done and Done, Son.

Tryouts are done for Matt Ellsworth, and I now return to free agent status.  Let me know if you team needs a solid D-line player who can really drop the disc at a moments notice.

Morning Of.

Tryouts are in 2 hours.  I am just excited to play some good ultimate.  I am sure it will be the best ultimate that I have played since I got here.  I am about to make some oatmeal, hydrate some more, and watch some Nationals 07 Disc.  This is a free ticket to ride the pump up train.  Perhaps I will include some thoughts later on how tryouts went.

On a related note, Madcow Tryouts are starting soon.  Who’s with me?

Cut Short, Short Cut

I do what I want.  I have recently decided that the midwestern tour, was not for me.  The position is going away, and I am moving into a role that I was in previously.  That being said, I am permanent in Minneapolis.  I really like this city, so it should not be a problem.

For ultimate this season, I plan on trying out for Sub Zero.  I think I have a good shot at making the team, but I am a classic case of over confidence on many occasions.  There are a lot of really good players trying to make the team,  I need to be a really good player.  I need to play some DEFENSE.

Recently I have been reading a book called, the 4 Hour Work Week.  It is one of those books that makes me think, and when I think, I do.  So, I am doing, and hopefully I will be doing it real big, and real soon.  I have about 4 projects on the table right now and things are looking up for a couple of them.  Life is good right now, it is moving fast and very exciting.

Sorry for the respite in posts, it was an uneventful winter.  In the name of Timothy Ferriss, there won’t ever be an unventful anything….unless that it what I really want.  This was brief, but I’m just getting back into the game.

Choose Your Adventure

As of late, I have been giving a lot of thought in regards to career pathways.  On the road to millionaire status, there are many different routes I could take.  My love for sales is developing into a love for management and business.  Being involved in LightEdge is a great experience.  I love entrepreneurship, and being on the ground level of a national sales roll out, satiates my hunger for the time being.  Right now, I am thinking of life after LightEdge.

Your time is now, and you must choose your destiny:

1. Enter into private equity.

2. Enter into event planning.

3. Continue deeper into technology/IT.

This will be something that I will have to come back to, but if you have feedback, post up.

Super (R)amped!

Time to give the people what they wanted, an update.  I am now in Minneapolis, and have been here for 2 weeks and 3 days.  It feels like I have been here for longer than that, simply because work is busy.  My suspicions were confirmed, my place is crazy nice, with an incredible view.

BH VIEW

Work is work, but at the same time, I love what I am doing.  It has been refreshing to build upon the friendships I already have here, and to forge some new ones.  I think I am just getting to the point where, if I want to go out and do something, I can.  So what I had found out was, though I have a lot of friends here through Ultimate etc.  That doesn’t mean that I will always have something to do.  But, that is changing as I said before.  I am still excited about 2008, being on the road, and continuing to meet more and more people.

It didn’t really take long for Ultimate to creep back into the picture, either.  There are talks of a Coed team forming, and I would say at this point, this is more than just talking.  The name of the team is yet to be decided, though the intent and vision of the team is built.  Now, it is a matter of getting everyone on board.  For awhile now, I have been trying to figure out what to do about Ultimate this year.  I was planning to tryout for Bravo at one time, and then planning on trying out for Sub Zero.  For the record, I believe that both of those options are out at this point.  If this Coed team forms, it will allow me the freedom that I should allow myself, in reference to finances and work.  If I played for Zero, making practices would prove to be costly, and my ability to make the team goes down significantly with geographic issues.  So, I am pretty much committing to the Coed nation.  If the team should fall apart, I will probably play with some team, for some amount of fun and less competitiveness.  We will see where this roads leads.

On another note, I am excited to see some of my Ames friends next weekend.  Bring on the JAMZ.

Minne M.E. And The Baller Hotel

Found out where I will be living in Minneapolis.  I have done well for myself, and I am personally cost free.  The ol’ job-a-roo decided to foot the bill.  Much obliged.

I will be setting up residence in the Grant Park Tower, located at 500 East Grant St in Downtown Minneapolis.  This place appears to be legit.  First, it is fully furnished with a lot of high society trinkets and Tom Foolery.  Washer and dryer, outdoor patio, flat screen, cookware, and whatever else I could want.  The building itself, has a lot of amenities.

That elegant old-time feeling has found new life at Grant Park. Here, residents and their guests are greeted by a host of amenities. They swim in a private pool that is warm and sunny year round, sheltered under a glass-enclosed conservatory. Whenever they choose, they can work out in Grant Park’s club-quality fitness center. In spring and summer, they picnic and stroll among the gardens of the handsomely landscaped inner courtyard. But Grant Park isn’t all fun and games – it’s easy to do business here too, with the help of a state-of-the-art Business Center, meeting facilities, guest suites and package receiving station.

There you have it, work and play, rolled into one! As far as the space is concerned, I am told the patio alone is 1,000 Sq Ft.  Ballin’.  I am just happy to be on the 25th floor overlooking this view:

If you are wondering where in the scheme of things I really am, then look at this map.  I will wait to post the rest of the pictures til I move in.  I feel that my camera can do the views more justice than what I have to work with right now. Suffice to say, you will want to visit.  Holla!
