A new details meeting today at the office spells out just how interesting 2008 will be for Matt Ellsworth. I will be spending 3 months in each of these cities in this order.
-
Minneapolis – February-April
-
Omaha – May-July
-
Kansas City – August-October
-
Phoenix – November-January
-
Denver – February-?
EDIT: I had the months off by one. I am stupid.
So it looks like I won’t actually be in Denver until 2009. This is fairly different from my original forecast of Q1/by March. This means that the “Year of the Nomad” has begun. Moving around like crazy, and living it up in every city I step foot in. I am taking suggestions on things to accomplish whilest in these fine cities. Local eateries, some sights, and people to meet. Maybe, I should see which city has the Best Chinese food? So much to think about!
Obviously, this really cramps my plans to tryout for Johnny Bravo for the 2008 season. This was one of the big highlights to living in the Denver/Boulder area, however, the career opportunities that are being presented to me, outweigh this year’s UPA series. Sucks, but whatever. This means that I am a free agent again! Looking for a team to play with this year, whether it be Coed or Open. I plan to tryout for Sub Zero, which will require some commuting. But I do think that I can make the team, it is just a matter of whether or not they allow me to play without being at every practice. Then there is Prairie Fire, the Kansas City Open team that Wimer is heading up. This team would be fun as shit to play with, no matter how good they are. One Trick Pony offers some options for the Coed division if I want to be driving to St Louis. Then there is Back to the Pile, and I am sure that Kevin will make me tryout, so we would have to see how well that went first. I am wondering if a Minneapolis Coed team will pop up like expected? If so, that may be another option. Either way you slice it, I want to goto Nationals, and I want to play elite ultimate. I hope that I can still do that.
Tomorrow is the start of my new Ultimate workout. I will be meeting up with a personal trainer and tackling some plyos and sprints tomorrow. Stay tuned for a workout synopsis and some helpful supplementation tips.

1) Local eateries in KC: You will have to go to at least 3 different BBQ joints in the area. KC is the BBQ capital of the world and it would be a shame if you missed that experience while you are here.
2) Royals game. Very fun, lots of excitement. They will probably lose, though.
3) Local Ultimate scene. You’ve only seen spurts of Kansas Ultimate, and since you’ll be down here, you really should check it out. It would be worth it for you to give it a shot.
4) Local hotspots. Be sure to experience the Plaza, Westport and River Market areas. I’m sure we could get a crew together to go to America’s Pub, where you’ll meet the dirtiest girls this side of the Mississippi.

Matt,
I was looking at the floor plans for your apartment complex, and Tower Unit 11 is named Van Buren…..coincidence?

Wimer: Thanks for asking me on enough dates to last me the 3 months I am in KC.

Like I am going to come down there and just not play ultimate…
Becky: I know I saw that and planned on typing it up in the description. I forgot, thanks for having my back.
