I play Ultimate for the glory. To roll around in it. Mikey Liu’s post on layout D’s got me thinking…

I think that anything you have to get airborn for, is why I love Ultimate.

To reference Combo #5, i have been trying to pioneer the phrase “Callahandblock”, but have yet to see one, so i don’t think i can TM it yet.
also, Hopkins played in a juniors tourney this weekend (we won, finals score 15-4 – we rolled it…) but Capt. Sam Brickwedde came away with no less than 9 point blocks in the tourney including one with a footblock and then a near catch. i wanted to give him 2 pointblocks on that one (footblock, then d’d with his hand), but stats said just one. f’n amazing. he scored the point. also, that was the first point of the game. the last point of the game was similar. handblock, then caught the score. Zero throws by the opposite team in both points. Needless to say, great tourney.
ps. i think Brick also tallied 2 callahans – there were 3 in the tourney by our team

I have had one Callahandblock, it was last summer. I had one catch callahan, then scored the next break on a hammer catch, then I got the callahandblock. This probably says something about the competitor.
Sounds like Sam is carrying on the tradition. Good to hear it. This make sme sound old.

What about the patented bookends?
I would add the layout from outside the endzone and tapping the disc in the endzone before your body hits the ground still completely out of the endzone as one of my top plays.

Jumping over people seems kinda worthy.
I’ll consider the KarstenPile ‘07: Sarasota Holiday if I get my two VBB jerseys in time. Can’t fully support the team if I don’t have the gear to back me up.
In the meantime, drink some Slimfast or something.

I had a footblock callahan once. We were out of the endzone, the disc deflected off my foot and around the thrower. I caught it behind him in the endzone for the callahan.
I changed my email address after that.
Hammer didn’t make the list? And um .. the Greatest (which, ironically, is the Worst name … which makes me want to talk about how bad the name “ultimate” is)?
I saw a guy layout Greatest for a goal once. Minus his broken collar bone, it was sick.
You have weak list skills. Work on that.

ok, callahandblock – i think this implies that you have a mark on, a stall is in effect, right? just need the clarification.
also, was your incredible run of scores consecutive? callahan, hammer score, callahandblock = Smells 3, Everyone Else 0?

On stall six, the thrower tries to rip a backhand huck, it drives into my palm and deflects to about head level. The disc is wobbling but still has rotation. We both go for the grab, but I win. I believe that is what you were talking about.
It was consecutive.
